Biography
Bastiaan is very young, very talented, already making a career as BastiQ DJ. He wrote a song for KPN and played for thousands of people. And what does a young, talented person do to play at trance festivals? He just organizes them himself!
“I’ve been busy since I was 9,” says Bastiaan. “When I was very young, I got a simple drum kit from my parents. Soon I wanted more. Then I came across DJs. I saw Armin van Buuren perform and I thought it was cool. Then I got the kit and went to the DJ school in Amersfoort. ”
At the DJ school, Bastiaan learned skills that are important to a DJ, such as matching bits. “It’s good to know the programs and discover what you can do with them. It’s been a bit difficult to get started, but now I have good grip and I’m really finishing my songs. ”
For example, Bastiaan wrote the Shorttrack path to KPN WK. “For the first time they had a number that wasn’t so good,” he laughs. “They already knew me and asked me to do a new song. It became more EDM than trance, which
I usually do. Usually I start with a fall and continue the melody. You build a number around it.
Performing his songs live seems to be a challenge. “Since I’m still young, it’s hard to end up on trance scenes. That’s why I organize the festival myself. It was held on June 22nd in Bergse Bossen. A really huge feat appreciated by everyone, even DJs from Spain were guests! ”
